I know, we're supposed to be on Holiday

BUT...

I am so crazy excited.

If you love interior design as much as I do, you know that excitement I'm talking about.

The feeling when you've found the PERFECT piece.

Literally.

You would do just about anything to own said piece.

Well, I am on that high right now!

I honestly think I'm dreaming, as this couch is quite possibly only something from my dreams. Allow me to introduce you to the Tuxedo Sofa

Have you ever seen anything more beautiful than this?!?

I mean the brass legs alone make it an instant hit in my eyes!

Naturally I had to see how it would work in my living room, so I made a little room board to feel it out...

(Lights:Circa Lighting Art:Jessica Rae Sommer Tables,Chairs:Vintage)

I think it's a done deal! Now just to figure out how to pay for this sucker and I'm good. Of course everything I love has to be SOOO expensive!
Maybe I can sell a few handbags?!

Everything in the room I already own, minus the platner stools - which I also really really want!

Sigh...

Hope you're enjoying your week and that this couch has made it a little more pretty!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!

First, and foremost...

We'd like to express our deepest condolences to those who were affected by the devastating tragedy on Friday morning.

As mothers ourselves, we can't begin to imagine the pain and anguish felt by those immediately impacted by this horrible event.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

.......

We've decided that we are going to take the rest of December off to spend time with our loved ones, and enjoy the Holidays. Although we won't be posting, we'll still be 'around' and look forward to seeing everyone again in the new year!

We'd like to thank you all for your support over that past few months and encouraging welcome into the blog community!

.....

We hope everyone has fabulous Holiday with their family and friends!

Been Thinking About...

1. Marble

In any shape or form!
It's something I never seem to tire of, and this shower/bench combo is no exception! I die for this marble slab bench + matching floor and walls.

2. PJ's as day/evening wear

I've seen this more than a couple times and think it's a phenomenal idea. Seriously, I actually might consider this at some point. Too bad I live in a city that isn't exactly fashion forward - who really cares though, right?

3. Stark Carpet

As much as I try to forget (due to it's cost - haven't checked but I'm sure it's something fierce), their carpeting is bar-none THE best. I really need some of their geometric "beatrice" in my husbands office and I'm pretty sure I'd do anything for that leopard print carpet in my bedroom.

4. Welovekaoru Basilica Mugs

Loved them long-time.
Think nothing would look better displayed in my kitchen then these.

5. Jil Sander FAITH clutch

I think it speaks for itself.
This clutch is pretty fab if I do say so myself, definitely on the want list!

6. Hedgehog measuring cups

From Anthropologie, these are such a great gift idea and a cute edition to any kitchen!

7. Brass & Marble Pedestal Table

Although it's already sold, this is seriously stunning! It's the perfect alternative to the usual tulip table.
I will definitely be remembering this if I'm ever in the market for a new table. I feel as though this could be something easily custom made if you found the right people. Mhmmmm?...

There you have it, my deep inner thoughts... ;)

Hey 219 readers!

Hope this finds you all well and
having enjoyed a fabulous weekend :).

'Tis the season, and with many of us hosting
get togethers for the holidays and New Year,
I wanted to dedicate a post to some high-stylin'
ideas for entertaining starting with
this antipasto plate sitting on a bed of rosemary
- simply stunning!!

Pear slices with cranberry, pistachio and goat cheese
- picture perfect and so easy!

And perhaps not so easy, but well worth
the effort - this is gorgeous!

Honestly, this would be for gawking
purposes only!! I would be devastated the first almond
that was out of place ;).

Spinach, orange and pomegranate salad.
Beautiful and festive.

Baked brie is one of my favourite entertaining go-to's.
Pop it in the oven, add your favourite topping
and you're good to go! Easy peasy.

And of course, no holiday get together would be
complete without the bevies :).

Adore this "Bubbly Bar"!

And this bar by Windsor Smith is sooooo elegant!!

And while I love the idea of wine pairing, I just
haven't quite figured it out yet.

This table by matchmywine.com
makes it all so straight forward - love it!!

Bon appétit and cheers friends!!

Big hugs,
Christine

It's Friday, Friday!

It's friday and the weekend is almost here, very excited about that!

First off, I got the coolest most amazing Christmas gift for our family from Christine the other day.

Yes, you are seeing this right - it's a gingerbread house that lights up! How cool is that?! You literally plug it in and eat away. Seriously, we're so lucky to have the most awesome neighbours!

In other news I got my Milo benches a few days ago! I originally thought they'd go in my bedroom - which is still a major possibility - but they are so nice I just had to try them everywhere!

For now, this is where they sit.

(Sorry for the blurry phone pictures)

Well that's it for us, see you on monday!
Happy Weekend!

Frugal Fabrics

So we all know (or you can probably tell) that I have expensive taste. Whenever I see a piece of furniture that makes me weak, it's pretty much a guarantee that it's over the $2000 mark if not more. And when looking for fabrics I can never seem to find anything under 200$/yard - it's a serious problem! I actually HATE spending money of things like this. There are for sure pieces for any home that I think justify the cost, but for so many it just doesn't seem worth it.

A great example would be some drapery or cushions for your living room - or whatever your central room is. I totally think it's reasonable to splurge there since it's seen by everyone and just generally worth it. However, when finishing a kids room or bathroom on a different level of the home I just can't seem to justify such high costs. I'd love to be able to plaster every room in 300$/yard fabric, but that's just not going to happen!

Pierre Frey Kubus in Or as seen in Lonny Mag.
Sidenote: I was super obsessed until I got a sample and realized it was very brown, so now I covet the silver version (Argent) in LSD apartment that was recently in Vogue.

I love when I find a fabric that is uber cheap and still usable in the right space with the right pieces. I stumbled across some great options from Premier Prints for under 10$/yard.. that's right people, TEN DOLLARS!! I think if mixed with the right furnishings and other more expensive items some of these could actually work!

Your standard greek key. Always good!

A fun mosaic

and in grey/pink

Some black and white graphic

a little moroccan flair

I think these could look cool as a bedskirt or headboard. It reminds me of Pacman for some reason...

I mean really, for that price you seriously can't go wrong!

I personally am using one of their other prints for drapes in my sons room and am very excited about it. Mixed with the rest of his furniture I think it's going to work so well!

It's all about mixing cheap with expensive, and when done right you'd never know!

Anyways, off to go see some more furniture that was purchased for the shop! Loveeeee these trips!

Holiday Host/Hostess Gifts - 5 $50 and Under

21 days and counting!!

December 1st to me marks the official beginning
of the holiday season, and I for one couldn't
be happier - I adore this time of the year!!

With so many holiday functions,
I thought I would start off our series of holiday posts
with a selection of favourite host/hostess gifts.

1. Ornaments

I love the idea of bringing ornaments as a
gift - either a box of beautiful balls,
a vintage ornament, or a fabulous single.

Just as we love our interiors "collected", so too
do we love our trees to be a culmination of the
ornaments we've collected over the years,
including those from friends and family,
and I feel as though this is a host/hostess gift
with a bit of meaning behind it.

5. Coffee Table Book

A couple of my fave picks - Slim Aarons' latest,
La Dolce Vita and Miles Redd's The Big Book of Chic

You may have to do a wee bit of searching to find these
for under $50, but I think it can be done, and there are
a whole lot of other fabulous pretty books out
there for around the same!

3. Holiday Rosemary Tree

There's so much to love about this as a gift.
It's simple, it's green, it's functional, it's
amazingly fragrant, and last but not least, it really
makes for beautiful holiday decorating!

With all of the holiday glitz, I personally like to
keep mine as pared down as possible - a great container
will do -  but they're also adorable with a few ornaments!

4. Olive Oil

A good bottle of olive oil is top of my list,
and I also feel like it's a pretty safe bet all round.

It's obviously well suited for the gourmand
host/hostess, but it's also a great gift for those
you don't know as well.

It fits perfectly in a wine bag, and there are so
many fabulous bags to choose from!

Loving the faux fur bags for the holidays!

5. PomPom Throw

Always feel a bit funny throwing in something
from the 219 Boutique, but there's a reason
we're carrying them - we love them!

I've given these as gifts so many times as
they really make such a great gift!

They're a lightweight 100% cotton blanket and
come in a kazillion colours including this
fabulous green - perfect for the holidays I would say :).

Happy happy Monday lovelies!!

Big hugs, Christine
