Inspired By...

So, I'm getting a little annoyed at the pace things are going on the home front (partially my fault for being indecisive). I'm in limbo right now waiting for a few things to arrive/happen and that equals a bored me and zero pics for the blog!

This gives me plenty of time to be searching pinterest and other sources for those few and very far between pictures that inspire and create ideas. Although half the time I can't even say what it is about a photo - and it often doesn't make sense - I still know the second I see it....

Periwinkle and Unicorns...

Of course the head sculpture of Kelly Wearstler's is always inspiring, but it was the life-size version of her brass kaleidoscope (in the background) that really caught my eye...

Something about this bedroom. Mainly the bed + linens + drapes...

And if/when my husband ever gets office space, this white brick brass lettering needs to happen. The decor wheels are already spinning... *sigh*

Art & Display

So, I'm about to tackle the long black hallway
I recently had repainted and am in heavy
contemplation about the myriad options for this
great big blank canvas of mine!!

I remain completely enamoured with a salon-style
grouping, and there is much to inspire!

This space and grouping is one of my favourites.

Love the black, white + gold combo against
the saturated blue lacquer.

Feels very Manhattan.

And although very traditional, I love the
density of this arrangement in the home of
Charlotte Moss.

Charlotte Moss

She is my definite reference point for
this kind of arrangement 'cause she nails it every time!!

This is so fabulous.

Although her spaces are very traditional,
the impact of her wall arrangements definitely distinguish.

Speaking of distinguished...

No-fail black and gold combo:

The mix:

Miles Redd

And two pieces that I MUST include in the mix:

1 - Some kinda rendition of the Rorschach
and preferably in gold.

Andy Warhol: Rorschach

2 - And something along the lines of the
high-gloss gold framed number in this
drop-dead dining space!!

Similar to the shot of the solid white canvas
framed in gold, I love the idea of a framed solid
in a fabulous brass frame.

I know one thing for sure and that is that neither
of these pieces are DIY; that said, I'm thinkin'
that something along these lines could maybe work!

Now, off to drive myself absolutely mad trying
to decide on my favourite configuration ;).

Happy Monday friends!

Friday Files: Another Random

Well, it's Friday and I'm verrrrrrrry happy about that - it's just been one of those weeks!

This weeks Friday Files is going to be short and a little random; you know the type!

........

Loooving these Marc by Marc Jacobs high tops - totally feeling them right now!

A little Ryan Korban love. I'm a huge fan of his designs!

How can you not be when they look like this...

I love this guy!
Painted by the fabulous Jessica Rae Sommer - I think he'd be the perfect addition to my husbands office and of course matches my other piece of hers(here).

Great masculine bedroom with just enough brass goodness

I need this Kelly Wearstler Scarf. It's perfection.

and I'll take one of these too!

Kind of liking this tile. I could see it working well in several applications.

And although I have no spot for it, I've been thinking about this runner ever since I first saw it!

Well, told you it'd be short and random!
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Pretty Perfect Pad: Foyers

It's time for another...

This time we're talking foyers!

-S-
Light, airy, fresh and with a touch of glam seems to be what I'm always drawn towards. These are a few spaces that I'd definitely be using as foyer inspo if I were building my dream home.

A round table is one of my fav looks in a spacious foyer.

I don't think I've seen a more stunning home than Lauren Santo Domingo's apartment.
I love the floors and neutral palate in this entry, and the Pierre Frey fabric just rocks this space.

Some form of brass is always a must!

I'm also very partial to a fun statement tile like above and below...

And on the polar opposite end of the fresh/airy spectrum - I'm pretty sure I'd give anything for this little situation goin' on here!

-C-

Classic with a twist sums up the design
aesthetic for my dream foyer.

No biggie surprise, I think my favourite foyer has
to be this one in Ruthie Sommer's home.

I love how all of the elements work together:
the grasscloth wallcovering, the scale of the pattern
on the floor and the floors themselves, antique urns,
settees, drapes.

And the perfect balance between formality and accessibility.

The b+w floors are a MUST in my dream foyer btw!!

My father's childhood home had this flooring in its
foyer and so there is a certain nostalgia about them
in addition to them being  both so classic
and gorgeous.

This next pic is actually a hotel in Italy,
but it's stunning and would work perfectly as a foyer.

Love these floors as well...

And not your usual suspects, large-scale
pieces of furniture -  e.g. settee, round
table, bench etc. are another must have.

Would love a foyer large enough to
accommodate a circular sofa.

This next piece is gorgeous.

Lastly, I'm not at all about sparse for the front entry.

I like there to be layers and "stuff" and lots of it!

There you have it folks.
Be back next week with another
Pretty Perfect Pad post!!

Happy day friends!!

Commercial Chic

Friends! It's Friday!!

Good week? Hope so and that you have
plans for a fabulous weekend!

We will be having another w/e on the down
low because round II of the cold/flu has
made it's way to our home!!

Yup.

Honestly, what the, what the!!

Up until now, we've been pretty lucky,
but that horseshoe has long since sailed.

Doesn't help that there has been like a 40 degree
spread in the temp over the past week. Oh Canada!

But anyhoo, on to much more pleasant thoughts
and in particular some of my very favourite
commercial interiors beginning with the classic
and oh so fab Greenbrier!!

Ring ring bucket list.

Greenbrier Hotel

Teller's Bar and Brasserie
Corinthian Club, Glasgow, Scotland

I would pretty much be happy having a drink on a
beautiful porter chair on a street corner,
so you can just imagine...

This is beyond the beyond the beyond the beyond...

Raleigh Hotel, Miami

As is this pool, although all I can think of is how this
would somehow translate into a great design for a pelmet!

American Restaurant, Kansas City

Came across this pic in the Sadie + Stella archives,
and it was apparently taken in the 70's.

Doesn't it just highlight how good design endures?!

Honestly, it's spaces such as these that renew
my love for design. Brilliant.

Lyford Cay, Bahamas

And I simply must make my way here one of these days.

This room full of palms and beautiful
Quadrille prints is un-believ-a-bal!

Tom Scheerer
London is clearly where it's at when it comes
to lounges and nightspots!

Artesian Bar
Langham, London

David Collins
LouLou's London

And of course, what discussion of hotel chic would be
complete without KW's design of the
Viceroy hotels, including this one in Miami.

Just so darn much to love!!

Until next week lovelies,
happy w/e, happy dreaming!!

Big ol' hugs to you!
Christine
