S's Wish List

Much like everyone else in blogger world these days, I've decided to throw together a wish list - or gift guide of sorts.

For the first time in a long while I actually don't have a Christmas list because I can't think of anything I really really want/need! I've made a few home purchases in the last month that we've decided to call our Christmas gifts and just focus on the kids. However, I'm still going to list out some things that I certainly would welcome under the tree :)

1. Victoria's Secret Silk Pj's

If you don't have a pair, you NEED to get some! Besides the obvious fact that they are super cute & pretty, they are extremely comfortable too! I have them in a black masculine pinstripe, but I'm really loving this solid red option.

2. Kelly Wearstler Rhapsody - Limited Edition

With a case like that how can you not covet such a thing?!?

3. iPhone Case

I love this metallic gold Tory Burch, or you could go with something a little more crazy and fun...

A la Marc by Marc Jacobs...

4. MAC Makeup

I love MAC's Holiday Eye Kits!
They are so fun and the packaging is always amazing. Definitely something that goes on my list every year!

5. Nail Polish

I'm loving all things dark green and camo lately so this colour definitely intrigues me.

6. CC Skye Revolver Pendant Necklace

loooooove it!

......

What's on your list this year?

Shop 219 News and Huge Congrats!!

Just a wee post today with some not
so wee news (okay we are beyond the beyond excited!!)...

Sarah and I got a call yesterday aft from the lovely
folks at One Kings Lane, and 219 is now officially
a vendor for the OKL Vintage and Market Finds section!!!

So while we will of course be maintaining our online
Boutique, we will also soon be selling our fab vintage
pieces through One Kings Lane as well!

Definitely worth a regular browse friends.
I've found some of my favourite pieces through OKL,
including the pair of Italian candelabras
that I've posted about and that are about to go on
my new black walls (now finished!):

We also wanted to send out HUGE congratulations
to Christine over at Bijou and Boheme on such a successful
segment on Steven and Chris yesterday aft!!

Christine was such a complete natural -
so engaging - and my money is on a t.v. spot all
her own in the not so distant future -
I know you'll all agree!

Her vignettes were fabulous,
and it was so fun to see the B and B
Tiger Pillow for 219!

Anyhow, must be signing off - kiddos are calling
and are raring to go :).

Thanks so much for sharing in our news!

Maybe Mouldings

Sarah here!

I'm still on vacay enjoying some great quality family time

But I wrote up a quick post last week before leaving so that I could use it this week, so here it is :)

.........

While Christine and I were putting the final touches on the site a week or so ago we had lots of time to chat design.
We basically decided that both our homes really needed some wall makeovers. Now of course paint and wallpaper are always great options, but we were talking about mouldings... and lots of it!

As mentioned in my previous post I'm really, really feeling this options for my husband's office. Christine and I decided that something like this needs to be happening.

David Hicks

As much as I'd love to paint it out gold and black like this is, I would most likely paint it to match the wall - whatever I chose that to be. I love this option because my house definitely has a contemporary feel to it and I feel this is the perfect middle ground!

What do you think? Yay, or nay?

Now, with that little makeover happening at some point in the near future it really makes me want to improve the tile situation in our entrance (right outside our office) to something along these lines.

Nothing beats marble tile done by the one and only Kelly Wearstler...

Houston, we have a problem...

Well, uh oh!!

Good news is I love my new black hallway.
Bad news is that I'm wanting to paint one
big, black brush stroke over the whole
darn house!!!

I'm having a black attack!!!

So here is a before and halfway thru shot of the
hallway (last coat being done tomorrow).

So hard to take a good angle, as it's a long,
not very wide corridor. Funny thing though,
given its width, I was wondering whether it
would confine the space, but instead I'm feeling
like it's actually making the ceilings look higher.

Anyhoo...

 Pre-paint

Post-1st coat

What think you friends??

This particular runner won't be staying -
was just wanting to get a sense of a rug in the space.
This is a loooong hallway - about 25 feet I think -
so one runner is simply not going to cut it.

Loving this look -
via
Two mismatched but complementary rugs -
I'm officially on the hunt!

I'm still contemplating how to deal with the
largest wall. Even the very large canvas
I had on it pre-paint didn't make much of a dent.

So two thoughts.

I still absolutely adore this hallway
that I had yakked about a wee while back:

{Sidebar: Go blush or perish!!
I NEED to find somewhere to use this colour!!!}

And I am equally enamoured with a salon-type display.

Am leaning towards the salon-style grouping and
am starting to put some stuff together.

Then all that's left will be to add crown, paint out
the trim and door and get new door hardware - so excited!!

Is it too ambitious to think it can all be
done before New Year's??!!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and that you
continue to enjoy the shopping on this Cyber Monday!!

Hugs!

Black Baby!!!

Happy Black Friday all you shopping enthusiasts,
and the happiest of Thanksgiving weekends
to our dear American readers!!

Aerin Lauder in Lonny
What a crazy busy (good busy) week!

In addition to launching the boutique, there are all
kinds of things brewing on the home front.

To start, yesterday the countertops in our kitchen
were installed, and I am most pleased!!

We went with a white and grey granite, and for the
life of me, I can't get a good pic of it in the
light at the moment.

Will post as soon as I can figure it out :).

And by pure coincidence it so happens that
my hallway and two interior doors are being painted
black on none other than Black Friday!!

A definite meant to be sign :).

You may recall I was considering P and L's Obsidian but
ended up choosing Farrow and Ball's Off-Black.

F and B's Off-Black in a room:

I'll post a few progress shots later this aft.

And the seamstress I use - the loveliest woman you
could ever hope to meet - was over on the weekend
with the wonderful news that she will be able
to make my draperies in time for Christmas!!

Christmas cometh early!!!

I have chosen an ever-so-slightly off-white linen
and have been pondering trims. In particular,
I've been contemplating to greek key or
not to greek key.

Although we're seeing a lot of it these days,
I think it has such a classic appeal and definite
staying power, and I'm pretty sure it's a go.

I am eagerly awaiting trim samples from Clarence House
- Grand Galon Athenee - and am crossing all my fingers
that their black/white combo will read more like
black/cream - my all time favourite pairing!!

The drapes will be french pleat with a 6" pleat,
which I can't wait to see

Now just need to find me a brass curtain rod
and we're all set to go. Would love any suggestions!!

And last but definitely not least, I wanted to share
a photo and an e-mail. It is from a customer (and now blog follower) of ours here in Ottawa.

He writes:
Hi Christine and Sarah, I just wanted to share a project I've just completed. Through your blog and Pinterest, I was inspired to paint this little dresser, the design came from the Roger & Gallet box, but the courage and determination came from you. Thanks for a great blog and for getting me hooked on Pinterest. Much success to your new boutique! All the best, Peter Fournier

Wow wow wow!!

Honestly, not only one of the sweetest e-mails
I've ever received but check out the dresser!!!
Thank you so so much Peter for such kind words and
for sharing your fabulous dresser!

Can't think of a nicer way to start the weekend than that.

Enjoy yours, and thank you so much for all of your support!
Not Canadian T/G, but we are thankful!!

Christine xoxo

Black Christmas

First and foremost we want to say a big Happy Thanksgiving to any American followers. We hope your Holiday is filled with lots of love and laughter!

I'd also like to apologize for our blog this week - or lack there of! We've been 'riding the wave' of the launch so-to-speak and have been quite busy with that which resulted in a little blog neglect.
Thank you so much to everyone though who's supported the shop and popped on over to check us out! Also, a huge thank-you to all the people who have sent us such sweet encouraging emails or comments related to all thing shop - it really means a lot to us!

......

Well it's feeling a little more like Christmas at our house these days!
The past few years I've never really loved decorating for Christmas - especially when it comes to the forest green tree. You're all well aware of my colour fear, so having a green tree never really excited me or "fit".
This year we decided to do things a little differently. Why not get a BLACK tree - yes, that's right.. our Christmas tree is black and we LOVE it!

(Don't mind the toys on the floor)

Now don't judge, I'm not am expert at tree decorating. I'm quite happy with how it feels in our space though and we've had several people in our house who actually love the black!

I will also be adding one of these fabulous lacquer magnolia wreaths from our Shop that you can buy here

They come in several fun colours (which I might decide to go for) and are absolutely beautiful! I can't wait for mine to arrive!

.......

I just wanted to give a heads-up that half of 219 will be MIA for a few days - we're off to the sunshine state.
Just a little forewarn that there might not be a post up every single day as I don't expect Christine to run the blog & shop all by her lonesome!

Guess What...

Shop 219
is open for business!!!

It's Sarah and Christine, and we're so excited to
be sitting here writing this post the day before
the launch of our shop.

We're considering this as more of a soft opening
of sorts - we wanted to wait for things to
be absolutely perfect but at the same time just
could not wait any longer!

.....

For those that don't already know, we are an
online boutique based out of Ontario, Canada.

Our collection is the coming together of our
two different design aesthetics - there's not a
single piece that neither of us wouldn't have in
our homes. We're a mix of vintage/antique, new
and custom pieces.

.....

With the news of launching the shop, we also are
super excited to announce a special collaboration
with Christine Dovey of the fabulous blog
Bijou and Boheme

Bijou and Boheme and 219 will be collaborating
on some joint projects beginning with Christine's
Blush and Tiger Pillow for our soon-to-be launched
velvet pillow collection, as well as her
fabulous pale pink Art Nouveau mirror.

via

Aren't these both so stunning?

The amazing thing is that despite our three
different aesthetics, we still all love both
pieces and will definitely be using them
in each of our homes.

It's truly so versatile for all styles and
this is why we are so pleased with the end result!

Hoping you love the shop as much as we do!!

Friday Files: Office Edition

Happy Friday, followers!

For some reason this has just been one of those crazy can't-wait-for-friday weeks.

I can't begin to say how thrilled I am that the weekend is upon us and to just have some good quality relaxation time with the famjam. Relaxing with two under the age of 3 might be a bit of a stretch, but at least I have some help from the hubs which helps me stay a little more sane ;)

Speaking of the Mr. of the house, amongst the million other things we have to complete, his office is relatively high up on that list. It is directly to your left when you walk in our front entrance and at the moment it is quite the sad story. I really don't understand how he's even productive in there with such minimal styling...okay, slightly kidding.

Here it is as of now. Sorry for the horrible picture as it was taken the other evening

Allow me to list the problems here:

A: The ugly office chair that NEEDS to be replaced with something easier on the eyes, yet still functional.
B: The rug. It is Flor tiles from our old house and is just way too bland and tired for this space.
C: The wall built-in stands out way to much IMO and looks too small surrounded by so much white, even though it's actually 9' wide.
D: The table in the middle. Love the lacquered black top, hate the legs.
E: Drapes - they need another panel to add some pattern and texture to the space.
F: To the left is all empty space in need of a couch or some suitable armchairs.

And last but not least, G: The WALLS!

Here's what I'm thinking. Actually, this picture is basically exactly what I want - pink carpet included!

However, that will never happen due to that male factor but really? Is there anything more amazing than that carpet!? AH!
Okay! Focus, focus.. I am so in love with any type of mouldings and think that this must happen. I also know that the Mr. (and I of course) want the walls to be dark. Real dark. So Black with thick crown moulding and wall panelling is the first choice.

This above office of Aerin Lauder's East Hampton home is right up there with the first pic on amazingness. I love the lacquered black walls and carpet. Some form of graphic rug has to happen.

I just love the rich elegant feel of this option!

And the second option is grasscloth. My husband gets really excited with this idea as he basically wants surf/ocean/palm tree pictures everywhere and grasscloth somehow equals beachy. However, he has slowly but surely seen the light and is beginning to appreciate my taste as well. So he really still loves the above option.

Okay, back to the grasscloth...

Not your typical brown tone, but pretty much as dark as it comes. I think this could add some nice texture to the room and definitely give it a different feel from the rest of the house.

And the last option is this wallpaper...

Pheasant by Twigs

It can be seen applied to the back of this bookshelf

For those of you who are huge fans of Kourtney Kardashian (Yes, that's right.. not even afraid to admit it!) then you might recognize it as the wallpaper used in her family room.

So I'm stuck. What do you think? Black with moulding, black grasscloth or Pheasant? I'd love to get some thoughts as I want to seriously start putting this space together.

.....

Speaking of things coming together, we have something very large and exciting happening next week that has to do with the Shop.

You will DEFINITELY want to pop by to see what's up!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

S,
